My own experiences taught me how deeply the beliefs we hold about ourselves can shape the way we think, feel and behave. They also showed me that behaviour is rarely where the story begins. They sparked a lifelong curiosity about what shapes us and why we respond to life the way we do.
That curiosity led me to study counselling and later complete a Master's degree in Criminal Justice & Crime Control. Since then, I've had the privilege of supporting both adults and young people through a range of therapeutic settings, helping people make sense of their experiences and move towards meaningful change.
Helping people understand themselves, rather than judge themselves, is still the reason I do this work. I feel privileged to watch people build a kinder relationship with themselves and realise they don't have to spend the rest of their lives believing they're not enough.
About Emma
How I Work
No two people are the same, which is why I don't believe therapy should be either. As an integrative counsellor, I tailor each session to you, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on your needs, your experiences and what you hope to achieve. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviours with curiosity and compassion, helping you make sense of your experiences and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
I believe that many of the struggles we experience today are influenced by the experiences we've had, the relationships we've formed, and the beliefs we've developed about ourselves over time. By understanding those patterns, we can begin to make sense of why life feels the way it does and work towards meaningful change.
Above all, I believe the relationship we build the most important parts of therapy. My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself, where you feel heard, understood and accepted without fear of judgement. While we'll often explore difficult thoughts and emotions, I also believe there's room for warmth, genuine connection and, where it feels appropriate, a little humour too. Therapy doesn't have to feel cold or clinical.
I'll support you, gently challenge you when it's helpful, and work alongside you at a pace that feels right for you. My hope is that you'll leave each session with a greater understanding of yourself, increased self-compassion, and the confidence to move forward in a way that feels right for you.
